Common triggers include sun exposure, heat, alcohol, spicy food, hot drinks, caffeine and stress. Identifying and reducing your personal triggers is one of the most effective steps.
Rosacea is a long-term condition that cannot be cured, but it can usually be well controlled with the right skincare, trigger management and treatment.
Gentle, fragrance-free products for sensitive skin and daily SPF 30 or higher are recommended. Steroid creams should not be used on the face, as they can make rosacea worse.
Most skin treatments take time. Many conditions, including acne and inflammatory skin problems, need several weeks, often up to around three months, before a treatment’s benefit can be judged fairly, and some improvements build gradually after that. We set realistic expectations at the start and review your progress, so the plan can be adjusted if it is not working as hoped.
